Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. (QRC), known as Qingdao Refining, is a major refining and petrochemical complex located in Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shandong Province, China.
Established in 2004 as a joint venture between Sinopec (85%), Shandong Province (10%), and Qingdao Municipality (5%), it operates China's first single-series 10-million-ton-per-year refinery. Construction began in 2006, with operations commencing in June 2008. The facility spans 2.65 square kilometers and features 22 processing units, including atmospheric and vacuum distillation, catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, and delayed coking, supported by advanced Sinopec technologies for efficiency and environmental protection.
With a crude oil processing capacity of 12 million tons annually (primarily imported high-sulfur crudes), QRC produces over 8 million tons of clean fuels such as gasoline (92# and 95# meeting National VI standards), diesel, jet fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas, alongside more than 2 million tons of petrochemicals including polypropylene, styrene, petroleum coke, naphtha, xylene, mixed aromatics, and sulfur. Products are distributed mainly via sea and pipelines to northern and eastern China, with some exports.
