Pyrocell is a Swedish company that produces bio-based pyrolysis oil from forest and sawmill residues using fast pyrolysis technology. Its biocrude serves as a feedstock for refining into renewable transport fuels and other downstream products, providing an alternative to fossil-derived oils.
The company is a joint venture between Setra Group, a wood products manufacturer, and Preem, a refining and fuels company. By converting byproducts from the forest and wood industry into upgradeable oil, Pyrocell supports circular use of biomass and the increased use of renewable components in fuel supply chains.
