Pilbara Ports Authority

About PPA

Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) is a Western Australian government trading enterprise responsible for managing and operating major ports in the Pilbara region, including Port Hedland, Dampier and Ashburton. It oversees marine and landside operations, port planning and development, vessel traffic services, and trade facilitation for some of the world’s highest-throughput bulk export gateways.

For the chemical and energy sectors, PPA’s ports handle significant volumes of bulk liquids and gases—such as LNG, LPG, ammonia and other industrial chemicals—supporting export projects, coastal supply chains, and bunkering activities. The authority regulates the safe movement and handling of hazardous cargoes within port limits and implements environmental and emergency management frameworks, enabling terminal operators and logistics providers to operate safely and efficiently across the Pilbara’s resources corridor.
