About PPA

Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) is a Western Australian Government Trading Enterprise responsible for the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible management and development of the Pilbara region’s major deep-water ports, including Port Hedland, Dampier and Ashburton. PPA delivers marine and landside services such as pilotage, vessel traffic services, berthing and scheduling, channel and anchorage management, port planning, trade facilitation and infrastructure delivery that support large-scale resource and energy exports.

For the chemical industry, PPA’s ports handle LNG, ammonia, fertiliser inputs, industrial chemicals and other liquid and dry bulk cargoes that underpin upstream gas, petrochemical and mineral processing operations in the Pilbara. The authority works with industry and regulators on safety, risk management and environmental stewardship, and provides the operational framework for compliant bunkering and other specialised maritime activities.
