Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A. (PGG) is a Polish hard coal mining company and one of the largest producers of steam (thermal) coal in Europe. Headquartered in Katowice and formed in 2016 from the assets of Kompania Węglowa, PGG operates a network of mines and coal preparation facilities across the Upper Silesian Coal Basin.
The company focuses on the extraction, processing, and sale of thermal coal grades used in electricity generation, district heating, and industrial energy needs. PGG supplies utilities, municipal heating systems, and industrial customers in Poland, including energy‑intensive sectors such as chemicals and fertilizers.
