Port of Ostend

About Ostend Port

Port of Ostend (Port Oostende) is a seaport and port authority in Ostend, West Flanders, Belgium. Located on the North Sea with links to the inland waterway network via the Ostend–Bruges Canal, it serves regional and international maritime traffic. Core activities include general and project cargo handling, offshore energy logistics, fisheries support, and marine services.

The port features terminals and industrial zones suited for assembly, storage, and distribution, including facilities used for offshore wind pre-assembly and operations. It provides road, sea, and inland waterway connectivity, customs services, and ISPS-compliant security. Port Ostend works with partners on energy-transition initiatives such as HyPort Ostend, aimed at developing green hydrogen production and related logistics. While not a chemical producer, the port supports the chemical value chain through safe handling of relevant cargos and by enabling multimodal transport to industrial clusters in Belgium and beyond.
