Orano SA

Orano SA is a French, majority state-owned company focused on the nuclear fuel cycle. Formed from the restructuring of Areva’s fuel cycle activities, it provides integrated services spanning uranium mining, conversion, enrichment, fuel fabrication, used-fuel recycling, nuclear logistics, decommissioning, and related engineering. The company supplies nuclear utilities worldwide and also develops radioisotopes for medical applications.

Headquartered in France, Orano operates key industrial sites including the La Hague facility for spent fuel treatment and recycling in Normandy; the Melox plant at Marcoule for MOX fuel fabrication; and conversion installations at Malvési and Tricastin, where it also runs the Georges Besse II uranium enrichment plant. Internationally, it participates in mining and processing ventures, notably in Canada, Kazakhstan, and Africa. Orano’s activities center on secure, traceable nuclear materials management across the full lifecycle, from front-end supply to back-end waste management and site dismantling, under stringent safety and regulatory frameworks.
