Its role Offtaker
OQ Trading Limited, known as OQ Trading (OQT), is the international energy and commodity trading arm of the Government of Oman and a wholly owned subsidiary of the OQ Group, which forms part of the Oman Investment Authority.
The company sources, transports, trades, and markets a wide range of commodities including crude oil, refined petroleum products, petrochemicals, fertilizers, LNG, and carbon credits. It serves as the exclusive offtaker for OQ assets such as refineries, the OMIFCO fertilizer plant, and exploration output, while also procuring feedstocks and handling exports. Approximately half of its trading volumes come from third-party sources, diversifying beyond Omani origins.
With a global network of offices in Dubai, Houston, London, Rotterdam, Shanghai, Singapore, and Muscat, OQ Trading operates across key markets and supplies customers in dozens of countries. It trades over 55 million tonnes annually and is actively expanding its LNG portfolio, including a 15-year agreement for 600,000 tonnes per year from the Amigo LNG export terminal in Guaymas, Mexico, with deliveries starting in 2028.
As a strategic partner within the OQ Group, the company provides market intelligence, optimizes production decisions, and supports Oman's energy security and transition goals through physical trading, derivatives, and logistics expertise. It positions OQ as a competitive player in global energy markets while maximizing value from national resources.
