Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG), also known as Austrian Investment AG, is Austria's state-owned holding company and sovereign wealth fund. Founded in 1967 and headquartered in Vienna, it manages the Republic of Austria's strategic investments in key domestic enterprises on behalf of its citizens.
ÖBAG oversees a portfolio valued at approximately €30 billion (as of end-2024), encompassing around 10 companies across critical sectors including energy, chemicals, telecommunications, postal services, utilities, real estate, gaming, and pensions. Notable holdings include a 31.5% stake in OMV AG, Austria's largest industrial group and a major player in oil, gas, refining, and chemicals—particularly polyolefins via Borealis; 52.9% in Österreichische Post AG; 51% in Verbund AG; and 28.4% in Telekom Austria AG.
As an active, long-term investor, ÖBAG focuses on value preservation and growth, strong corporate governance, sustainability, and bolstering Austria as a business location. Its portfolio companies employ over 100,000 people and contribute significantly to the national economy.
