Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Berlin, Germany, the organization comprises around 900 members who are physicians and medical professionals working in the field. It designs and conducts its own clinical trials and surveys, often in collaboration with partners, targeting cancers including ovarian, endometrial, cervical, uterine, and breast malignancies. The primary goals are to enhance recurrence-free survival, overall survival, and quality of life for affected patients.

NOGGO organizes continuing medical education events, maintains working groups on specific tumor types and topics such as translational research and supportive therapies, and provides access to educational materials via its mediathek. It operates primarily in Germany while engaging in international networks, including as a participating trial group and lead entity in the European Network for Gynaecological Oncological Trial groups (ENGOT).

As a registered association (e.V.), it receives support from select pharmaceutical companies through associate memberships but maintains a non-commercial, scientific orientation. NOGGO plays a prominent role in coordinating multicenter studies and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among specialists in oncology, pathology, radiology, and related fields across Europe.

Also known as Nord-Ostdeutsche Gesellschaft für Gynäkologische Onkologie, North-East German Society for Gynecological Oncology, and NOGGO e.V..
