About NEa

The Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa) is an independent administrative body under the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. It oversees the implementation and enforcement of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) in the Netherlands. As the national competent authority for carbon emissions allowances, it issues permits, monitors compliance, and manages the registry for installations covered by the ETS.

The NEa also handles reporting requirements for fuel suppliers under the Renewable Energy Directive and performs verification tasks for sustainability claims.
