Maragro Group, primarily operating as Maragro SRL, is a Romanian agribusiness enterprise headquartered in the commune of Giera, Timiș County. Established in 2008, the company manages approximately 9,600 hectares of farmland dedicated to the cultivation of cereals and oilseeds, including rapeseed, soybeans, and sunflowers. Its operations extend beyond primary production to include oilseed processing for the manufacture of meals and oils, as well as a state-of-the-art facility for seed selection, treatment, and distribution.
The company maintains certifications for organic production and engages in both conventional and ecological farming practices. Founded by Italian entrepreneur Marco Chiaradia, Maragro was acquired in July 2025 when East Grain SA, part of the Czech Agrofert Group, purchased a 90% stake; Chiaradia retains the remaining 10% and continues in operational leadership to ensure continuity.
Now integrated into the East Grain network, which operates across Romania, Hungary, and Serbia, Maragro strengthens vertical integration in the regional agricultural supply chain. It contributes to grain and oilseed origination, processing, and trading activities within Romania's competitive agribusiness sector, particularly in the fertile western regions.
