Government of Luxembourg

Headed by the Prime Minister and comprising ministers responsible for specific portfolios, the government includes key ministries such as Finance, Economy, Foreign and European Affairs, and Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs. Through its development cooperation activities, Luxembourg supports financial inclusion, sustainable development, and economic empowerment initiatives in partner countries, particularly in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.

The government has contributed to the European Investment Bank’s Financial Inclusion Fund, which financed an EIB-commissioned value-chain study on sargassum utilization presented in the Dominican Republic in 2025. This funding supports efforts to transform environmental challenges into economic opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises.

As a founding member of the European Union, the United Nations, and other multilateral organizations, Luxembourg’s government leverages its status as a leading international financial center to promote sustainable finance, multilateral cooperation, and global development goals. It operates from the capital city of Luxembourg and maintains a coalition structure reflecting the country’s parliamentary democratic system.
