Lotse

About Lotse

Lotse (Lotse GmbH), also known as Lotse PtX, is a green hydrogen production project located in the ChemCoast Park, Brunsbüttel, northern Germany. Fully owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) through its Energy Transition Fund, it features a 120 MW electrolyser capacity designed to produce approximately 12,000 tons of renewable hydrogen annually using advanced electrolysis powered by offshore and onshore wind and solar energy.

The project supports decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors, including heavy industry and transport, by supplying hydrogen via Germany’s national network. It aligns with Power-to-X initiatives for potential e-fuels and chemicals production. In 2026, Lotse was selected in the European Commission's third Hydrogen Bank auction, receiving support for 140,554 tons of production over 10 years at €1.10/kg, contributing to ~1.1 GW of new electrolyser capacity across Europe. Expansions are planned for increased capacity and infrastructure.
