Leuna100 is a collaborative research and demonstration initiative based at the Leuna Chemical Park in Germany. It focuses on developing and scaling technologies for green methanol (e‑methanol) production as a low‑carbon fuel and chemical building block.
The project integrates electricity-based synthesis gas generation, renewable hydrogen, and carbon from non‑fossil sources to optimize methanol synthesis under industrial conditions. Work includes catalyst and process development, process modeling for load‑flexible operation, and validation on large‑scale test infrastructure. Leuna100 brings together research institutes, academic partners, and industry to advance power‑to‑liquids pathways for marine and aviation use and to support carbon‑circular chemical production.
