L-H Battery Company, Inc. is a United States-based joint venture company specializing in the manufacture of lithium-ion battery cells. Established in January 2023 by LG Energy Solution Ltd. and Honda Motor Co., Ltd., the company operates a major production facility in Jeffersonville, Ohio.
The plant, spanning more than two million square feet with an investment exceeding $4.4 billion, has an annual cell production capacity of 40 GWh. Originally intended to supply advanced batteries for Honda and Acura electric vehicles in North America, production has pivoted to include lithium-ion cells for energy storage systems (ESS) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications to meet evolving market demands.
Initial output supports ESS through LG Energy Solution Vertech for utility grid stabilization, commercial, industrial, and residential uses across the United States. The facility currently employs over 1,000 associates, with plans to expand to 2,200 full-time positions at full capacity.
As part of the broader North American battery supply chain, L-H Battery Company plays a significant role in advancing domestic manufacturing capabilities for both automotive and stationary energy storage sectors through its strategic partnership and flexible production strategy.
