Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. (KOEN) is a leading South Korean electric power generation company headquartered in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do. Established in 2001 as part of the restructuring of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), it operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of KEPCO.
The company generates electricity primarily through thermal power plants using coal and natural gas, with facilities including the Samcheonpo, Yeongheung, Bundang, Yeongdong, and Yeosu power plants. Its total installed capacity accounts for approximately 10% of South Korea's domestic electricity production, supporting stable power supply to metropolitan areas and industrial complexes.
KOEN is actively transitioning its business model toward sustainable energy, with initiatives in renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, as well as hydrogen power generation.
