Its role Offtaker
Kerax Limited is a privately held UK manufacturer and supplier of specialist waxes, wax blends, petroleum jellies, and related oils. Established in 1962 and based in Chorley, Lancashire, the company operates from a site with over six decades of continuous wax blending and formulation expertise. It produces an extensive portfolio of products serving candle makers, packaging and paper industries, pharmaceuticals, personal care, industrial processes including rubber and plastics, textiles, surface treatments, and food applications such as cheese coatings.
The firm formulates waxes from petroleum-derived, plant-based (including soy, rapeseed, coconut, and olive), and hybrid sources, offering both standard grades and bespoke blends developed through its in-house R&D team. Services include toll manufacturing, contract blending for waxes, oils, gels, and emulsions, and technical support for performance requirements. Products are supplied in various formats including liquids, pastilles, slabs, and powders, with a strong emphasis on quality consistency, regulatory compliance, and increasingly sustainable options that reduce reliance on virgin fossil materials.
Kerax Limited exports to customers across five continents and maintains a position as one of the UK's leading independent wax manufacturers and blenders. It is controlled by Kerax Holdings Limited and has grown to employ approximately 80 people with annual turnover around £40 million. The company participates in circular economy initiatives, including a 2021 memorandum of understanding to offtake up to 5,000 tonnes per year of recycled wax from Itero's pyrolysis demonstration plant at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in the Netherlands.
