The company specializes in processes including chlorination, nitration, sulfonation, hydrogenation, ethoxylation, and ammonolysis. Its product portfolio features benzene derivatives such as monochlorobenzene (MCB), ortho-dichlorobenzene (ODCB), and para-dichlorobenzene (PDCB); chlorinated paraffins; dye intermediates like vinyl sulphone ester and H-acid; para aminophenol; sulphur-based chemicals; caustic soda; and nitro chloro aromatic compounds. These serve end markets in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyes, pigments, plastics, rubber, textiles, and oil refining.

KCIL benefits from strategic advantages including proximity to ports (Kandla and Mundra), captive power generation, and raw material access. It exports to more than 30 countries and holds Star Export House status from the Government of India. In November 2026, thyssenkrupp nucera commissioned a major chlor-alkali facility for KCIL in Padana, Gujarat, with an annual capacity of 220,000 metric tons of caustic soda using BM Generation 6+ technology—one of the largest single-train plants in India.

As part of the Goyal Group (with roots in 1977 and combined turnover historically exceeding USD 350 million), KCIL emphasizes quality certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001), environmental compliance including zero-effluent discharge at certain units, and sustainable practices. It is positioned as one of India's major integrated chlor-alkali and specialty chemicals producers.
