John Gunn & Sons Limited is a family-owned civil engineering and construction company based in Swiney, Lybster, Caithness, in the north of Scotland. Founded in 1912 and incorporated as a limited company in 1953, it is now managed by the fourth generation of the Gunn family.
The company specializes in a range of services including road construction, asphalt surfacing, land drainage, demolition, coastal and marine works, sewerage and water mains installation, wind farm enabling works, landfill site construction, and house building. It operates quarries at Bower (Gillock) and Skitten (Wick), supplying aggregates, ready-mix concrete, concrete blocks, sand, and rock armour certified to EN 206 and BS 8500 standards.
With over 110 years of experience, John Gunn & Sons has established itself as a major contractor in the Highlands, contributing to infrastructure projects such as road resurfacing, substations, and renewable energy sites including wind farms.
