The Institute for Sustainable Process Technology (ISPT) is a Netherlands-based, non-profit public–private partnership that advances sustainable innovation across energy- and resource-intensive process industries, including chemicals, food, and paper. ISPT convenes companies, equipment suppliers, universities, and research organizations to develop and scale technologies that lower emissions, improve energy efficiency, and enable circular use of materials.
Its programs typically focus on process electrification and industrial heat, hydrogen and Power-to-X, carbon capture and utilization, process intensification, and circular plastics. ISPT coordinates collaborative R&D, pilots and demonstrations, and delivers system and techno‑economic assessments, roadmaps, and best-practice guidelines to support industrial adoption. By fostering cross-sector consortia and sharing knowledge, ISPT helps the chemical and broader process industry accelerate decarbonization and circularity while de-risking scale-up of new technologies.
