Iomtek Co., Ltd. is a South Korean startup specializing in eco-friendly upcycling and advanced composite materials. The company develops and manufactures products that combine recycled waste plastics with industrial by-products, primarily steelmaking slag, to create high-value sustainable materials under the Slastic brand.
Its core activities focus on circular economy solutions for the construction and civil engineering sectors. Key products include composite railway sleepers, exterior and interior decking, asphalt pavement modifiers, street tree guards, and other building materials. These composites offer durability, cost advantages by partially replacing traditional fillers like glass fiber, and full recyclability at end of life.
Founded in 2020 as POSCO’s first in-house venture (originally EOMTech), Iomtek operates from its headquarters and facilities in Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, with additional presence in Pohang. It maintains a small team and emphasizes R&D in sustainable fillers and polymer composites for applications in infrastructure, architecture, and beyond.
As an independent company post-spin-out, Iomtek positions itself as a social enterprise advancing resource recycling and carbon neutrality. It has participated in programs such as TIPS, Shinhan Futures Lab, and industry collaborations, including with LOTTE Chemical’s circular economy initiatives. The firm targets B2B markets in Korea and seeks global expansion in sustainable materials.
