INEOS O&P UK

INEOS O&P UK, operating primarily through INEOS Chemicals Grangemouth Limited, is a key petrochemical manufacturing business within the INEOS Group at the Grangemouth site in Scotland. It specializes in the production of olefins and polyolefins, including ethylene, propylene, polyethylene, and polypropylene, with an annual capacity of around 1.4 million tonnes of products. These materials serve as essential building blocks for a wide range of downstream applications in packaging, automotive components, construction, medical devices, and consumer goods.

The Grangemouth facility is one of the UK's most significant industrial sites and houses the country's last operating ethylene cracker. It features integrated operations with ethane import infrastructure, including a large storage tank commissioned in 2016 to receive US shale gas ethane supplies, supporting long-term feedstock security. The business also manages related activities such as polymer production and is closely linked to other INEOS entities at the site, including the Forties Pipeline System (FPS).

As part of the privately owned INEOS Group founded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS O&P UK benefits from group-wide resources while focusing on European operations. The company has invested heavily in site maintenance, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction, recently securing UK Government support for further upgrades. It employs hundreds directly at Grangemouth and supports thousands more jobs in the supply chain, positioning it as a critical player in the UK's chemical and manufacturing sectors amid efforts to maintain domestic production capabilities.
