Interconnect Malta Ltd (ICM), also known as InterConnect Malta, is a 100% government-owned company under Malta's Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness. Originally established as Melita TransGas Co Ltd in 2018, it was renamed in August 2021.
ICM is tasked with developing key energy infrastructure projects to enhance Malta's interconnectivity with Europe, support the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, and ensure reliable energy supply. Its portfolio includes the Second Malta-Sicily Interconnector (IC2), a 122 km 225 MW HVAC cable link to double electricity import capacity and integrate renewables; the Melita TransGas Pipeline (PCI 5.19), a hydrogen-ready 159 km gas pipeline to connect Malta to Italy's network; offshore renewable energy initiatives; and battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Delimara and Marsa.
