Established in 2021 through a de-merger from Carbon Limits AS, with expertise tracing back to 2005, the firm specializes in identifying, assessing, financing, implementing, and monetizing projects that deliver rapid, scalable reductions in methane and other greenhouse gases from existing energy infrastructure. Its activities include leak detection and repair, flaring reduction, vapor recovery, and LDAR initiatives, primarily in partnership with national oil companies and independent producers.

Headquartered in Oslo with operations across more than 20 countries and a current focus on the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa, ICA-Finance maintains an office in Lagos, Nigeria. It generates high-integrity carbon credits, such as Upstream Emission Reductions (UERs) under schemes like the EU FQD and CDM methodologies, which are sold to support decarbonization efforts. To date, the company has contributed to over 11 million tons of CO2e reductions and approximately 157 million euros in carbon finance.

Since 2023, it has been backed by Climate Investment (founded by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative), with major shareholders including Torleif Haugland AS and OGCI Climate Investment Holding LLP. ICA-Finance maintains a strategic partnership with Carbon Limits AS for technical services and adheres to high-quality standards while avoiding projects that expand oil and gas production capacity.

Also known as CL-Invest AS and ICA Finance AS.
