IBU-tec advanced materials AG is a publicly listed German specialist in thermal process engineering and the development and production of specialty materials. Headquartered in Weimar, Germany, the company operates additional production sites in Bitterfeld-Wolfen and maintains the subsidiary BNT Chemicals GmbH, which focuses on organometallics and related products. IBU-tec is advancing construction of a major new LFP production facility at Bitterfeld-Wolfen with an annual capacity of approximately 15,000 tonnes, scheduled to begin operations in 2028. This plant, the first of its kind on an industrial scale in Europe, uses a proprietary process independent of Chinese technology and with significantly lower energy consumption. Production is backed by comprehensive development and long-term supply contracts with PowerCo SE, Volkswagen’s battery subsidiary, which has secured the entire output for ten years. The group employs around 230 people and is positioned as a leading European contributor to sustainable battery material supply chains.
