Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) is a Scottish innovation hub that supports the growth of industrial biotechnology and bio-based manufacturing. It brings together companies, researchers, and public stakeholders to accelerate the development and scale-up of bioprocesses and bio-based products used across the chemicals, materials, food and drink, and related sectors.
IBioIC provides industry access to expertise, collaborative R&D support, and bioprocess scale-up capabilities, alongside a membership network, funding competitions, and technical advisory services. The centre also delivers skills and workforce development through training and education initiatives tailored to industrial biotechnology. By enabling the translation of research into commercial applications, IBioIC helps companies advance lower-carbon, circular approaches to producing chemicals and other bio-based outputs.
