Its role Offtaker
HYmpulsion SAS is a French company focused on developing and operating renewable hydrogen infrastructure to support zero-emission mobility.
Founded in 2018, it serves as the primary commercial entity for the Zero Emission Valley (ZEV) project in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The company finances, designs, installs, and operates a network of hydrogen refueling stations, targeting more than 15 sites with capacities ranging from hundreds of kilograms to over one ton per day. Several stations include on-site production via electrolysis, including a 2 MW unit capable of producing green hydrogen in situ.
Its core activities center on building a complete hydrogen ecosystem for light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, buses, utility vehicles, and other intensive transport applications. Stations deliver hydrogen at 350 and 700 bar pressures and are supplied in part through long-term offtake agreements, such as the ten-year deal for 600 tonnes per year from Lhyfe's Le Cheylas plant to serve seven Alpine stations.
HYmpulsion operates exclusively in France, primarily across Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, with headquarters in Lyon. It is structured as a public-private partnership with shareholders including the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (majority stake), Michelin, ENGIE, Banque des Territoires, and Crédit Agricole. As a pioneer in regional hydrogen mobility, the company aims to enable the deployment of hundreds to over 1,000 hydrogen vehicles, improve air quality in valleys, and stimulate local economic activity in the emerging hydrogen sector.
