Himal Power Limited (HPL) is a Nepal-based independent power producer focused on hydropower generation. Established in the 1990s as a project company, it develops, owns, and operates run-of-river assets that supply electricity to Nepal’s national grid.
HPL’s principal asset is the 60 MW Khimti I Hydropower Project on the Khimti Khola in the Ramechhap and Dolakha districts. Commissioned in 2000, Khimti I was among Nepal’s first large private hydropower projects and operates under a long-term power purchase agreement with the Nepal Electricity Authority.
HPL’s activities center on power plant operations, maintenance, and adherence to environmental and social standards relevant to hydropower development in Nepal.
