Higuchi Inc. (株式会社樋口商会), founded in 1927 and formally established in 1938, is a Japanese specialized trading company headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo. Originally starting with petroleum product sales, it has evolved into a key distributor for leading European chemical manufacturers, focusing on pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food additives, personal care, and electronic materials.
In the pharmaceutical sector, where it has nearly 50 years of experience, Higuchi supplies imported excipients, formulation equipment, and analytical instruments to Japanese manufacturers. It represents products like Evonik's EUDRAGIT® polymers for controlled-release oral dosage forms and has a decades-long partnership with Evonik, including introducing German methacrylate technologies to Japan in the 1960s. Recently, the companies opened a joint Open Pharma Lab in Yokohama (operational from May 1, 2026) to provide hands-on formulation support and accelerate drug development.
With capital of 75 million yen and around 100 employees, Higuchi emphasizes value-added services in import/export and technical support across the chemical industry.
