Gruppo Hera is an Italian multi-utility headquartered in Bologna, formed in 2002 from the merger of several municipal companies. The group provides integrated water cycle services, natural gas and electricity supply and distribution, district heating, and environmental services across Emilia‑Romagna and other regions of northern and central Italy. It is publicly listed on Borsa Italiana.
Through Herambiente and other subsidiaries, the group operates a large network of collection, sorting, treatment, recycling, and waste‑to‑energy plants for municipal and industrial waste. Activities include materials recovery (such as plastics, paper, and metals), management of industrial waste streams, and production of energy and fuels from residuals, including biogas/biomethane. These capabilities support circular‑economy objectives and reliable waste and resource management for manufacturing supply chains.
