About GANOPE

South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE), legally known as شركة جنوب الوادي المصرية القابضة للبترول, is a state-owned holding company under Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Established in 2002 by Prime Ministerial Decree No. 1755, it manages and supervises all upstream and downstream oil and gas activities in southern Egypt, south of latitude 28°, including Upper Egypt, the Eastern Desert, and the Red Sea.

GANOPE oversees exploration, production, refining, and marketing through subsidiaries such as PetroGulf, Petronaft, and Assiut Petroleum Refining Company. It attracts international investments via concession agreements and bid rounds, focusing on frontier basins like the Red Sea. In FY 2024/25, it produced around 12 million barrels of crude oil and 2.2 billion cubic feet of associated gas.
