Fost Plus SCRL is Belgium’s producer responsibility organization for household packaging waste. Operating as a non-profit cooperative, it enables companies that place packaged products on the Belgian market to meet their extended producer responsibility obligations by organizing, financing, and auditing the collection, sorting, and recycling of household packaging.
The organization designs and funds the nationwide “blue bag” PMD system for plastic packaging, metal packaging, and beverage cartons, as well as glass collection via bottle banks. It contracts with municipalities, sorting centers, and recyclers to ensure high-quality, traceable recycling outcomes and to develop local processing capacity. Fost Plus also supports prevention and eco‑design initiatives, data reporting, and compliance with Belgian and EU packaging legislation, contributing to the circular economy for packaging materials.
