Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corporation (FSET), registered as 台塑新智能科技股份有限公司, is a Taiwanese energy technology company established in June 2022 through a joint investment of NT$7 billion by Formosa Plastics Group (FPG) and affiliates including Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation, and Formosa Biomedical Technology Corporation.
The company integrates group resources to build green renewable energy value chains focused on energy saving, energy storage, new energies, and recycling. Core activities center on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cell and module production, highlighted by Taiwan's largest 2.1 GWh facility in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, which supplies energy storage systems (ESS) for home, commercial, and industrial applications as well as EV battery packs.
FSET advances microalgae technologies via subsidiary Chenghao Technology (澄灝科技), developing high-yield algae strains and heterotrophic fermentation processes to produce algae oil as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstock; this portfolio recently secured ISCC EU certification covering cultivation, production, and emissions management. Headquartered in Taipei's Neihu District with manufacturing in Changhua and other sites, the company operates primarily in Taiwan while pursuing international expansion, including partnerships in Europe and the US.
As a key FPG subsidiary chaired by Wang Jui-yu, FSET strengthens Taiwan's domestic battery and sustainable fuels capabilities, supports the group's 2050 carbon neutrality target, and positions itself in the growing global markets for energy storage and bio-based feedstocks.
