Equinor Refining Norway AS (also known as Equinor Mongstad) is a subsidiary of Equinor ASA responsible for refining and terminal operations at Mongstad on Norway’s west coast. The company operates the Mongstad refinery alongside extensive crude oil and refined product storage and a deep-water marine terminal.
The facility processes North Sea crude into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other light petroleum products, as well as intermediates used as petrochemical feedstocks. It supplies the Norwegian market and exports to Northern Europe, and is integrated with Equinor’s upstream production and trading activities for feedstock sourcing, logistics, and product distribution.

Equinor disputes a NOK 220M fine and NOK 500M confiscation claim for historical emissions, arguing it self-reported and addressed the issues. The case will proceed to court.
