École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a public research university in Lausanne, Switzerland, and part of the ETH Domain. Established as a federal institute in 1969 with origins dating to 1853, EPFL focuses on engineering, natural sciences, and life sciences. Its activities relevant to the chemical industry span chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, environmental technologies, and energy. EPFL hosts the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering and related research centers and laboratories.
