European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation

About ECCO

The European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) is a non-profit, pan-European professional society focused on inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Headquartered in Vienna, it brings together gastroenterologists, surgeons, scientists, nurses, and allied health professionals to improve patient care and advance IBD science and education across Europe and beyond.

ECCO develops evidence-based clinical guidelines, delivers training and continuous medical education, coordinates collaborative research and registries, and hosts the annual ECCO Congress—one of the world’s largest meetings dedicated to IBD. It also publishes the Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis, supporting dissemination of peer‑reviewed research and best practices, and fosters collaboration among academia, healthcare providers, patient organizations, and industry to translate scientific advances into clinical practice.
