European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights

European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights e.V. (ECCHR) is an independent, non-profit legal organization based in Berlin, Germany. It advances the enforcement of constitutional and international human rights through strategic litigation, complaints, and legal interventions in collaboration with partners worldwide. The organization is also known by its German name, Europäisches Zentrum für Verfassungs- und Menschenrechte.

ECCHR’s work spans corporate accountability, environmental and climate justice, and business and human rights, including cases involving transnational supply chains and alleged harms to people and the environment. It brings or supports proceedings before German and European courts and administrative bodies, as well as international mechanisms, and provides legal analyses, amicus briefs, and support to affected communities. For stakeholders in energy, mining, and chemical value chains, ECCHR is a notable actor shaping jurisprudence and compliance expectations on issues such as due diligence, emissions, toxic exposures, and remediation.
