About DREETS

Directions régionales de l’économie, de l’emploi, du travail et des solidarités (DREETS) are the French state’s regional directorates responsible for implementing public policy on economic development, employment and vocational training, labor law and workplace health and safety, and social cohesion. Established in 2021 from the reorganization of regional services, they operate under national ministries to coordinate and enforce regulations, support businesses and workers, and oversee social and labor programs at the regional level.

For industrial sectors such as chemicals, DREETS act as the competent authority for labor-related compliance, including inspections, working conditions, and occupational risk prevention. They also supervise procedures linked to company restructuring, notably information–consultation processes and the oversight/approval of collective redundancy plans. Through their economic and employment missions, DREETS interface with employers, employee representatives, and local ecosystems to help align skills, training, and workforce practices with regulatory requirements and regional economic priorities.
