Directions régionales de l’économie, de l’emploi, du travail et des solidarités (DREETS) are the French state’s regional directorates responsible for implementing public policy on economic development, employment, labor regulation, and social cohesion. Established in 2021 through an administrative reorganization, they operate under the supervision of relevant national ministries and coordinate services such as labor inspection and business support at the regional level.
For industry, including the chemical sector, DREETS oversee enforcement of labor law and occupational health and safety, monitor working conditions, and supervise procedures related to collective redundancies and restructuring (including review of social plans). They also contribute to skills development and support measures for employees and companies in transition. As a regulatory and administrative authority, DREETS act as a key interface between businesses, workers, and the French government on compliance, workforce matters, and the regional implementation of national economic and social policies.
