Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

About DJSI

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are a family of global equity benchmarks that track the stock performance of companies leading in corporate sustainability. Launched in 1999 and maintained by S&P Dow Jones Indices, constituent selection is based on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which evaluates companies on industry-specific economic/governance, environmental, and social criteria.

The index suite includes DJSI World as well as regional and country indices (e.g., North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Emerging Markets). DJSI is widely used by investors to construct ESG-focused portfolios and by corporates as an external yardstick for sustainability benchmarking and disclosure. Inclusion is reviewed annually, with transparent, rules-based methodologies and sector-specific weightings.

For the chemical industry, DJSI provides independent, comparative insights into how producers and specialty chemical companies manage climate strategy, product stewardship, supply chain, human capital, and governance relative to global peers.
