The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are a family of global benchmarks that track the stock performance of companies leading in corporate sustainability. Launched in 1999, the indices are maintained by S&P Dow Jones Indices, with constituents selected annually based on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).
The CSA evaluates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices using industry-specific criteria, including climate strategy, resource efficiency, product stewardship, human capital development, business ethics, and corporate governance. The DJSI suite includes DJSI World as well as regional and industry indices, enabling comparison across sectors and geographies. Investors use the DJSI to inform ESG-focused strategies and to benchmark portfolio alignment with sustainability leaders, while companies reference inclusion as an external measure of relative ESG performance.
