Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, the company was founded in 2022 and specializes in building, owning, and operating infrastructure for capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and permanently storing it underground. It adopts a technology-agnostic approach, testing and deploying multiple DAC systems in parallel at its facilities to optimize performance and reduce risks.

Its flagship project, Deep Sky Alpha, is located in Innisfail, Alberta, where it serves as the world’s first cross-technology carbon removal innovation and commercialization centre. The facility, which became operational in August 2025, has a capacity to capture approximately 3,000 tonnes of CO2 annually using up to 10 different DAC technologies, with captured CO2 transported for geologic sequestration in saline aquifers.

Deep Sky has raised substantial funding, including a $40 million grant from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, and secured carbon credit purchases from companies such as Microsoft and Royal Bank of Canada. It is also developing additional projects in Quebec involving in-situ mineralization for carbon storage. The company aims to scale operations across Canada, leveraging abundant renewable energy and geological storage resources to contribute to global carbon removal efforts.
