CO2next B.V.

About CO2next

CO2next B.V. is a Netherlands-based infrastructure company focused on developing open‑access logistics for liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) in the Port of Rotterdam. Its planned facilities cover CO2 liquefaction, intermediate storage, and ship/barge loading and unloading, enabling captured CO2 to move between industrial emitters, regional networks, and offshore storage sites.

Positioned as a midstream link in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) value chains, CO2next is designed to serve refineries, chemical producers, and other heavy industries by providing standardized transport and temporary storage services. The hub is intended to interface with pipeline projects in the region, such as Porthos, and with North Sea storage initiatives. The development has been advanced by Dutch energy infrastructure firms including Vopak and Gasunie. The objective is to reduce barriers to CO2 transport and offer flexibility for emitters and potential carbon utilization routes, operating under Dutch and EU safety and environmental regulations.
