It focused on additives for plastics, coatings, water treatment, and personal care products, including UV filters such as bemotrizinol. Originally spun out from Novartis in 1997, the company was acquired by BASF in 2008 for approximately $5.1 billion and integrated into the BASF group in 2009. Its operations and product lines, including Tinosorb S, are now part of BASF.
