About CHW

Central Highlands Water (CHW) is a Victorian Government–owned regional urban water corporation based in Ballarat, Australia. It provides drinking water, wastewater and recycled water services to communities across the Central Highlands region of western Victoria.

CHW manages water catchments and storages, operates water and wastewater treatment plants, and maintains distribution and sewerage networks. Its operations encompass source water management, treatment and disinfection, recycled water production, nutrient and solids removal, biosolids management, and environmental compliance to protect public health and waterways.

The corporation operates under the Water Act 1989 (Victoria) and is regulated for service and pricing by the Essential Services Commission of Victoria, with obligations relating to water quality and environmental performance set by state and national standards.
