About CHUBU

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (CHUBU; also known as Chubu Electric or Chuden) is a major Japanese electric utility headquartered in Nagoya. The company generates, transmits, and distributes electricity across the Chubu region of central Japan (including Aichi, Gifu, Mie, Shizuoka, and Nagano), and provides electricity and city-gas retail and energy services through group subsidiaries such as Chubu Electric Power Grid and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz. Its power portfolio is centered on thermal generation—particularly LNG—alongside renewables. Chubu Electric also jointly owns JERA (50% stake) with TEPCO, a major thermal power operator and LNG fuel supplier.

For energy‑intensive industries, including chemicals, Chubu Electric supplies power and gas, supports fuel procurement through JERA, and offers efficiency and decarbonization solutions. The group pursues initiatives in renewables and low‑carbon fuels, and, in partnership with JERA, is advancing projects such as ammonia co‑firing and hydrogen. These activities position the company as a key energy infrastructure provider to manufacturing clusters in central Japan.
