The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) is the main trade association representing the chemical industry in Europe. Headquartered in Brussels, it brings together national chemical federations, corporate members, and numerous sector associations across the region.
Cefic engages with EU institutions and stakeholders on policies affecting chemicals and related value chains, including regulation (such as REACH and CLP), climate and energy, circular economy, trade, and innovation. It publishes industry analyses and statistics and provides technical guidance to support compliance and best practices. Cefic also coordinates the Responsible Care program in Europe, promoting health, safety, environmental performance, and product stewardship. Through its working groups and sector platforms, the association facilitates dialogue and collaboration across the chemical value chain and contributes to the industry’s transition aligned with European policy objectives.
