Its role Owner
Bushehr Petrochemical Company operates the Bushehr Petrochemical Complex, one of Iran's largest petrochemical facilities, located in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh, Bushehr Province. The integrated complex processes sour gas feedstock from South Pars phases into a full value chain of petrochemical products, with a designed annual capacity of around 6.6 million tons.
Main activities include sour gas sweetening, ethane and methanol extraction, olefin production via ethylene cracker, polyethylene manufacturing, monoethylene glycol (MEG) production, and utilities. Products encompass methanol, ethylene, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), MEG, sulfur, ethane, LPG, and planned acetic acid and vinyl acetate monomer. Phase 1 (methanol and ethane units) started in 2020; Phase 2 (olefin and MEG units) began operations in February 2026.
The 70-hectare site spans three locations and emphasizes energy efficiency and environmental compliance. It is privately owned, with 60% held by Shastan Commercial Investment Company and 40% by Maroun Petrochemical Company. The company ranks among major players in Iran's petrochemical sector, focusing on export-oriented production and regional leadership in olefinic and glycol products.
