Breakthrough Energy Fellows is a program within the Breakthrough Energy network that supports scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs developing technologies for deep decarbonization. The cohort-based initiative provides early technical and commercialization support to help advance high-impact innovations from the lab toward pilot scale.
Its focus spans areas relevant to the chemical and materials value chain, including low‑carbon fuels, industrial process heat, hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage, and novel materials and processes. Fellows gain access to expertise, facilities, and partnerships to de‑risk core science and engineering challenges and to prepare pathways to scale with industry. The program complements venture funding and public research by bridging early development gaps for technologies that could reduce greenhouse‑gas emissions across energy, manufacturing, buildings, transportation, and agriculture.
