Boliden Harjavalta Oy is a Finnish copper and nickel smelting and refining company within the Boliden Group. Operating primarily in Harjavalta, with downstream copper electrorefining in Pori, it processes copper and nickel concentrates and selected secondary raw materials into copper cathodes and nickel intermediates. The sites also recover valuable by-products, including gold, silver, platinum group metals, and sulfuric acid.
Using modern flash smelting, converting, electrorefining, and gas-cleaning technologies, Boliden Harjavalta integrates sulfur capture to produce sulfuric acid and reduce emissions. Feedstock is sourced from Boliden’s own mines and external suppliers—among them concentrates from the Kevitsa mine—serving Nordic and European manufacturing supply chains in electrical, construction, energy, and industrial applications.
