Barcelona Energia is a 100% publicly owned electricity retailer based in Barcelona, Spain. Established in July 2018 by the Barcelona City Council and managed by TERSA, it serves the Barcelona metropolitan area across 36 municipalities, supplying 100% renewable energy certified by the CNMC.
As Spain's largest fully public renewable energy distributor, it provides electricity to municipal buildings, public facilities, lighting, and citizens, including tariffs such as Variable, Clásica, Eficiente, and Solar for self-consumption. The company promotes energy efficiency, local renewable generation—primarily solar self-production—and citizen participation through its User Council.
Barcelona Energia supports the city's climate goals by reducing fossil fuel dependency, fostering self-sufficiency, and addressing energy poverty with transparent, market-competitive pricing.
