Its roles Owner Operator
Aegis Terminal (Pipavav) Limited (ATPL) is an Indian public limited company engaged in the ownership and operation of storage and terminalling infrastructure for oil, chemicals, petroleum products and specialized gases.
The company’s primary asset is the ammonia storage terminal at Pipavav Port in Gujarat, featuring a 36,000 metric tonne (52,000 m³) storage tank plus integrated cargo handling facilities, pipelines and truck loading/unloading capabilities. Commissioned in August 2026, the facility is India’s first independent ammonia storage terminal. It facilitates third-party ammonia imports for the fertilizer sector under a 15-year take-or-pay contract with Hindustan Zinc and is positioned to support future green ammonia exports and hydrogen carrier logistics.
ATPL operates as a step-down subsidiary within the Aegis group. Aegis Vopak Terminals Limited (AVTL), a joint venture between Aegis Logistics Limited and Royal Vopak N.V., holds approximately 86% ownership following 2026 transactions, with Itochu Corporation acquiring a 10% stake. The company was incorporated in May 2013, maintains its registered office in Vapi, Gujarat, and shares corporate functions with the broader Aegis network based in Mumbai.
In India’s chemical and energy logistics industry, ATPL strengthens specialized terminal capacity at key western ports, complementing the group’s multi-product storage operations across Kandla, Pipavav, Mangalore, Kochi, Haldia and other locations.
